How do I get a Hardship License in Boston?

If you have been convicted of a DUI charge in Massachusetts, and have a situation in which you must drive, it could be possible to get a "hardship license" in order to continue driving.  These requests are not easily approved by the Registry of Motor Vehicles, and it is strongly advised that if you require a hardship license that you contact a Boston DUI Defense Attorney to assist you in your request to the Registry.  Under no circumstances should you drive with a suspended license as the penalties will be far too extreme if you attempt to do so and are stopped by law enforcement.

Hardship License in Boston with the help of a DUI Defense Lawyer

If you have a first DUI (or OUI) conviction, it is often possible to get a Hardship License with the assistance of a skilled DUI Defense Lawyer.  Habitual traffic offenders (a serious of traffic tickets resulting in a suspended license) may also be eligible.  If you have refused the breath test, this becomes very difficult, and this is not recommended if you are pulled over by law enforcement.  A Hardship License is often granted to those who must use a vehicle to get to and from work.  The RMV ordinarily will require a certain period license suspension before granting a Hardship License.

There are 9 criteria for being eligible for this type of license if you have been convicted for a DUI charge and 6 conditions if you are considered an "habitual traffic offender", and they are very specific.   You will be required to submit the required paperwork to the RMV when making your request for the Hardship License.  The procedure is fairly complex and must be submitted correctly the first time, or your request will likely be refused.  With the assistance of a Boston DUI Defense Attorney, you increase the chances that you will get this license that will allow you to continue to make a living.
